What were two way the KKK (Ku Klux Klan) would deny the African American rights?

For school I need to answer these questions about how the KKK would deny the African American rights. One that I have is that they would stand outside of voting booths and the KKK would kill/injure the African Americans who voted. That might give you any idea. Thank you so much!
