I told my best friend I can see him as more then friend...Advice!?

My best friend and i have been bfs for more then a year. We talk everyday about anything and with our problems about relationships and such. I have never really seen him as being more than a friend since very recently. We are both 19. Every guy in high school would give us a hard time about being lovers when we would tell them we were friends because they were jealous. I told my friends that I liked him, and everyone says I can do way better in the looks department but I dont care. Not to sound conceded but I know Im a really pretty girl and I have guys who are better looking talking to me all the time, but I want my best friend! My best friend talks to girls who are not cute at all. He is about a 5, and im about a 8.5, so i have been told. I told him how i felt a week ago and to sum it up he said "idk what to say right now, i dont know if in the near future being more then friends is a possibility, i dont want to rush things and ruin our great friendship, ect". He always has me over at his house, I met his mom and she loves me, and I hang out with his brother and cousins all the time. He is always saying how y i look in front of all his guy friends, and calling me cutie in front of everyone so i thought i was feeling that vibe back. Plus I heard that he says he just sees me as a sister, but if i would have pulled this on his 6 months ago i would have reacted the same way. A lot of my friends just think hes scared, hes never had a gf and idt he has been kissed either. So we are still cool and bestfriends, but i hope time will tell. Usually the guys take a little while to get a clue, right?
