How can I stop birds (woodpeckers) from pecking holes in my stucco Chimney?

Check with a garden center or a building center. I believe there are some strips of metallic paper or plastic that you can hang on the chimney to discourage woodpeckers. They commonly damage cedar siding that is stained rather than painted in southern Wisconsin, and some people have had luck with the strips. I think they wave in the wind and flash reflections and make the birds wary.
